Stolen Prop 8 Signs… be the bigger man!
by Christopher on Oct.26, 2008, under News, Politics, World Events
So the battle is still running hot here in California and Prop 8 has become a huge issue in recent weeks. The fight isn’t over and we need all the support we can get to help this item to pass.
The other day I went around Elk Grove and put up five or so “Yes on 8″ signs. By the next evening three of them were gone and one of those three had been replaced with a “No on 8″ sign. I understand that this is a big issue, but that doesn’t give someone the right to take down a sign because they disagree with the issue. I don’t see people taking down signs for mayorial canidates or school board canidates. I had the urge to return and remove the one sign that had replaced my own, but I realized then, that I would be guilty of the same act that I was condemning someone else of. In the end, I let it be, allowing whomever stole my sign, access to their freedom of speech. I’ll just continue to exercise mine and place more signs.

LDS Temple to be Built in Rome, Italy
by Christopher on Oct.09, 2008, under Mission, News, Personal, World Events
I was so happy to hear the new of a temple to be built in Rome. I was sitting on the couch watching conference with Christiana, Justin, and a few of their friends. We were making waffles and listening to the first session of conference. President Monson starts to announce the new temples and a thought crosses my mind… could Italy be so fortunate? Finally at the end of the list, he said it. My hands shot into the air, and then a wave of emotion came over me. Italy will have a Temple of it’s own. Missionaries have worked so hard to help the members prepare themselves for a temple. That work has finally paid off. Tears came to my eyes as I realized what it all meant. I still get tears as I write this post. Here is the official news article released by the church… (continue reading…)
What Will Happen if Prop 8 Fails?
by Christopher on Oct.06, 2008, under Personal, Politics, Reflections, World Events
Take a look at the video. It tells the story of a family in Massachusetts who had to deal with their Kindergartner aged son being taught about same-sex marriage in the classroom. However before we get there I would like to share a quote from something my friend Kimberly authored:
Please understand that this is not an anti-gay or a minority rights issue. The issue is the need for clarification of the definition of marriage, so that practices, such as same-sex marriages and behaviors, stay out of the public school curriculum. Such a definition would not affect, change or withhold any rights or liberties granted to domestic partnerships or civil unions; nor would such a definition discourage the acceptance of how others choose to live their lives or organize their own families. Homosexual couples would still have all the same legal rights and privileges as any other heterosexual married couple. Defining marriage as only being recognized between a man and a woman simply keeps the State from requiring teachers to teach our children about it without a parent’s knowledge or permission.
Please consider the implications that come with this Proposition. Realize that I know people who are homosexual but that I do not hate them. I simply stand for Marriage and I stand for family. Vote yes on 8 so that the following will be added to the constitution of the state of California
“Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California
Thats all there is to it folks!
