White Powder Sent to Mormon Temples in Utah, LA

Alright…. if defacing our buildings wasn’t enough…. look at what some of the extremists are doing now! Obviously not all people who were opposed to Prop 8 would go this far, and for those that are level headed… thank you. But resulting to attacks akin to bioterrorism isn’t in any way shape or form acceptable and shows once again the level of intolerance that the opposition has. Wow….
LOS ANGELES AP — Authorities are investigating after letters containing white powder were sent to Mormon temples in Utah and California.
A temple that was the site of a recent gay rights protest in Los Angeles was closed Thursday after receiving the envelope. The package was being inspected.
Powder spilled from an envelope onto a clerk’s hand Thursday at the temple in downtown Salt Lake City. The room was decontaminated and the envelope taken by the FBI for testing.
The clerk showed no signs of illness, but the scare shut down a building at Temple Square for more than an hour.
Protests in recent days have targeted the Mormon church, which encouraged its members to fight the recently passed amendment banning gay marriage in California.

If anything, I bet these “anthrax” scares are being done by the homophobic $%#* that advocated passing Prop 8. They do it to publicly discredit and give the gays a bad reputation and make the public un-supportive of their cause. We certainly know that the yes on 8 people used lies and dirty tricks to persuade people that gay marriage hurts kids and schools. It would not be surprising that anyone on that side would continue to fight dirty and low. “Gays are now terrorists, we have to stop them”. That’s what they’re going to do. Nazi Germany did it to purge the opposition in their rise to power.

Mike, thank you for your comments. I certainly hope that proponents of Prop 8 are not responsible for these acts. As I stated above, I do realize that the majority of those that voted no on 8 would never do anything like this, let alone the greater part of those that fall into the LGBT community. These acts are the work of extremists. We do not wish to give gays a “bad rep” I have friends that are gay/lesbian, and I respect their lifestyle, but I do not agree with it. Does it prevent us from being friends? Absolutely not, and I pray that people on both sides of the issue will be respectful and tolerant of the other parties beliefs and views.
